Penned by Harold Pinter, this moody drama explores the self-destructive web that envelops three people when a married Oxford professor (BAFTA-nominated Dirk Bogarde) becomes infatuated with a beautiful coed (Jacqueline Sassard) who's engaged to another of his students (Michael York). The movie received several BAFTA nods, including Best Film, and was nominated for the Palme d'Or at Cannes, where it won the Grand Prize of the Jury.
