Adam Had Four Sons

Governess Emilie Gallatin (Ingrid Bergman, in her second American film) works as a nanny for Adam and Molly Stoppard. When Molly dies, Adam and his four young boys begin to depend heavily on Emilie, but that dependence wanes as the boys grow older. After a time, Emilie leaves the Stoppards, but returns to find trouble in the form of Hester -- a gold-digging potential daughter-in-law.
