Filmed in 1985 at the famous La Scala Theater in Milan, Italy, this lavish production of Giuseppe Verdi's most famous opera stars legendary tenor Luciano Pavarotti as Radames, the Egyptian hero who falls in love with the slave girl Aida (Maria Chiara). The pair's courtship is interrupted first by an Ethiopian invasion and then by a scheming princess (Ghena Dimitrova). This is considered one of the finest productions of the opera to date.
