Hop in the cockpit and brace yourself for aerial adventure with this rousing Howard Hawks-directed World War II drama. En route to Hawaii, the crew of a B-17 "flying fortress" witnesses the Pearl Harbor attack from above. Reassigned to Manila, the crew (which includes John Garfield, Arthur Kennedy and Harry Carey) then sees plenty of action in several savage battles in the Pacific. The movie won an Oscar for its editing.
