Set amid the romance of colonial Latin America, this Spanish-language telenovela chronicles the passions of Hipolita Diaz (Lucero), a woman who winds up in a loveless marriage and sets out to find her true love. Her husband, Antonio (Arturo Peniche), is impotent, but that doesn't stop Hipolita's conniving mother-in-law from sending a handsome criminal (Fernando Colunga) to impregnate her -- all in pursuit of a lofty inheritance.
