With Gloria (Sally Struthers) pregnant and Archie (Carroll O'Connor) on a doctor-ordered diet, waistlines may be shifting in the sixth season of this landmark comedy -- but the Bunkers remain their irascible, inimitable selves. In other action, Edith (Jean Stapleton) develops an independent streak. Meanwhile, Mike (Rob Reiner) also declares "Independence Day" from Archie (a bit prematurely), and the clan welcomes a new member.
