Home Box Office's trilogy of moving short stories (all penned by noted black authors) looks at black America in the 1930s through the '50s. John Henrik Clarke's "The Boy Who Painted Christ Black" starring Wesley Snipes chronicles a recalcitrant student artist. An overworked sharecropper (Danny Glover) faces marital woes in Richard Wright's "Long Black Song," and Maya Angelou's "The Reunion" follows an unstable jazz musician (Lorraine Toussaint).
