At age 60, Ku (Ma Wu) is vibrant and enjoying his life in Shanghai, despite an ongoing squabble with a neighbor. The only things missing are his children, who have moved to the United States. Ku is excited when he learns that his American-born grandson will be coming to stay with him, but the boy is not so eager. Finding it hard to adjust, the boy runs away -- only to return a short while later and teach his new friends about life in America.
