Animated Classics of Japanese Literature: Botchan / Student Days

This program features two adaptations of classic stories by the Japanese writers Soseki Natsume and Kume Masao. In "Botchan," a new teacher arrives at a staid school and breathes life into it by challenging both his students and his colleagues. "Student Days" finds a young man named Kenkichi pouring every ounce of energy into preparing himself for the prestigious university he hopes to attend … and then wondering if it's worth all the effort.
