Arcadia of My Youth

This sci-fi anime adventure chronicles the backstory of the characters in the "Captain Harlock" TV series (a thinly veiled analogy to post–World War II Japan) and lays the groundwork for the epic story to come. Fast-forwarding to the 30th century, the story picks up as alien invaders conquer Earth and subjugate the populace. Teaming with engineer Tochiro Oyama and privateer Emeraldas, Harlock wages an insurgent war against the interlopers.
