Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers

  (1988)
Founder of legendary group the Jazz Messengers, Art Blakey gigged with everyone who was anyone during his prolific career. On this video, he jams alongside trumpet player Wynton Marsalis in a concert that dates from 1982. And it isn't long before other artists join the jam, including Wynton's brother Branford. This is a wonderful time capsule and a "passing of the baton" from a jazz great from one generation to two up-and-coming stars.
