Sage Vishwamitra tests Raja Harishchandra's (Govindrao Tembe) legendary truthfulness and generosity by demanding he give up his kingdom in this mythological tale from India. Harishchandra complies, and agrees to a life of labor for himself, his wife (Durga Khote) and their son (Master Vinayak). The family endures an existence of hardship, but keeps their integrity. Directed by Rajaram Vankudre Shantaram, the film co-stars Baburao Pendharkar.
