After his brother is killed in a hit-and-run accident, California state trooper Billy Baxter (Dean Stockwell) goes undercover to stop the reckless, wealthy thrill seekers who illegally race their sports cars on desert roads in the middle of the night. Driving at speeds of up to 200 miles per hour, these menaces care about nothing but winning the race they stage every year. But this time, Baxter is determined to stop them in their tracks.
