In search of his roots, American student Peter Kleist (Antonio Cantafora) visits the Austrian castle of an ancestor. But some family histories are better left unknown, as Peter discovers when he resurrects the castle's former occupant, a sadistic 16th-century nobleman. Joseph Cotten co-stars as the titular bloodthirsty baron in this 1970s gem that harkens back to the classic horror pictures from Hollywood's golden age.
