While hunting one day, namby-pamby Alfred Butler (Buster Keaton) nearly shoots a beautiful mountain girl (Sally O'Neil)-- and instantly falls in love. But he must first win the approval of her macho father and brother, so to that end, he poses as boxing champ "Battling" Butler. The subterfuge works perfectly ... until the genuine article (Francis McDonald), a nasty sort of chap, turns up.
