When a young couple taking a swim in a moonlit lake gets sucked to their death in a whirlpool, the residents of a mining town must come to grips with the immediate and dire threat posed by the unstable mine shafts that lie beneath their town. Geologist Nina's (Liane Forestieri) fears mount as she comes to realize that a number of mine shafts have already collapsed beneath the local stadium -- where 60,000 fans are attending a soccer match.
