In 1984, a Union Carbide plant exploded in Bhopal, India, destroying the lives and livelihood of nearly everyone in town. Against this tragic backdrop unfolds the love story between Verma (Kay Kay), the plant's foreman, and his wife, Tara (Nethra Raghuraman), and their enduring friendship with Bashir (Shah), all of whom will see their existence destroyed bit by bit in the aftermath of the accident.
