Singer, television personality and sausage magnate Jimmy Dean stars in the film version of his chart-topping ballad of the same name, playing the reluctant sheriff who pursues the fugitive in the song's title. After killing a man and living life on the lam, Big Bad John (Doug English) finds work in a dangerous Colorado coal mine, where he sacrifices himself to save his fellow miners' lives. Ned Beatty, Jack Elam and Bo Hopkins co-star.
