Upscale New Yorkers Sadie (Bette Midler) and Rose (Lily Tomlin) think they're twin sisters, but what they don't know is they were separated at birth from their true identical twins -- Southern blue-collar types also named Rose and Sadie, and also played by Midler and Tomlin. The two sets of twins cross paths some 40 years later on the streets of Manhattan, setting up a hilarious story of mistaken identities, split personalities and trouble times two!
