Black Rebels / Murder in Mississippi: Double Feature

  (1960)
This Rebel Breed
A double feature of racially charged films from the 1960s reveals that some things never change -- and some, thankfully, do. In Black Rebels (1960), a heartbroken Latina girl (Rita Moreno) plots her revenge against the gringo who killed her brother while a race riot stews in her neighborhood. In Murder in Mississippi (1965), a trio of civil rights crusaders are murdered, but their female companion (Carol Byrd) is spared for work as a sex slave.
