As the result of an illness she suffered as an infant, young Michelle McNally (Rani Mukherjee) can't see, hear or speak. Watching their daughter lash out violently, Michelle's parents consider putting her in an institution. Then eccentric Debraj Sahai (Amitabh Bachchan) enters their lives and is able to reach Michelle like no one else can. As teacher and student face one obstacle after another, they form an unbreakable bond.
