As he struggles to become Spain's premier bullfighter, dark and handsome matador Juan Gallardo (Rudolph Valentino) is caught between his love for his devoted wife, Carmen (Lila Lee), and his passion for temptress Doña Sol (Nita Naldi) in this silent-era classic. Carmen stays by Juan's side when he suffers a serious setback, but his ardor for Doña Sol is reignited when he returns to the ring.
