A successful English novelist (Jennifer Kendal) comes to India in search of new sensations and soon becomes involved with a poverty-stricken film writer and would-be poet (Zia Mohyeddi) and a dashing, married film star (Shashi Kapoor). But culture clash and other complications could create rifts in a beautiful friendship. An early film by James Ivory.
