Born Free

  (1966)
Born Free is an excellent and truthful adaptation of Joy Adamson's wonderful book about Elsa, the lion Adamson raised from a cub and then rehabilitated back into the wild. Shot on location in Keyna, the film follows Elsa from cubhood to motherhood. Bill Travers and Virginia McKenna play the Adamsons, and superbly bring to life the joy and heartbreak they and Elsa went through together. Tom McGowan and James Hill direct.
