Filmmaker John Montoya's documentary examines the roots of gangsta rap. Artists Ice-T, Coolio, Ish Butler, Fatal, Sir Dyno and other hip-hop stars share their personal insight into the genre born in America's inner cities. The film also features interviews with a variety of people from fans to anthropologists who shed light on how a musical style that glorifies outlaw lifestyles, sex, violence and drugs became popular even in mainstream circles.
