Born to Win

  (1971)
Addict
Hustling money wherever he can to support his $100-a-day heroin habit, ex-hairdresser J (George Segal) meets the lovely Parm (Karen Black) while trying to steal her car. Fascinated by J's unpredictable street lifestyle, Parm starts joining him on his errands. Marking the American debut of Czech émigré director Ivan Passer, this grimly ironic comedy is a gritty portrait of addiction as well as an unvarnished rendering of early-1970s New York City.
