In this classic drama, a mysterious, well-traveled man (Sidney Poitier) with extraordinary knowledge of the past, present and future returns to his Alabama hometown just before his sister's death and is shocked by the prejudice and social injustice he witnesses. Turns out he's a heavenly messenger, and though what he sees makes him disillusioned with the future of mankind at first, he's determined to make a difference through his intervention.
