Set in a remote village in the Alpine peaks, this film tells the tale of musically gifted Johannes (André Eisermann), who decides to end his life after being tormented by unrequited love. After learning that Elsbeth (Dana Vávrová) is promised to another man, Johannes refuses to sleep. Meanwhile, his best friend, Peter (Ben Becker), has a secret crush on him -- another love destined to be thwarted by the realities of their 19th-century hamlet.
