A grimy golf caddy (Will Sasso) hires a former Los Angeles cop (Michael Rooker) to protect the man's 17-year-old sister (Selma Blair), who's romantically linked to Solly (Harold Gould) -- a wealthy mobster more than four times her age. The private eye's digging uncovers a stink bomb of secrets that leads to the top of the law enforcement pecking order. Venerated crime writer James Ellroy adapted the screenplay from his novel.
