Country music singer Barbara Mandrell stars as government geologist Kate Bishop, who journeys to Appalachian Tennessee to help residents evacuate their town before lethal coal mine fires engulf their homes. But when she discovers that a ruthless local businessman is profiting from the disaster, she will stop at nothing to expose his schemes. Gilbert Cates directs, and Tom Wopat, Carol Kane and Eddie Albert co-star.
