While committing a robbery, two teenagers stumble across a dead body and become prime suspects in the murder. Investigator John McKeown (Pete Postlethwaite) grows intrigued by one of the boys, 17-year-old orphan Dex (Jamie Draven), who's raising his younger brother and sister alone. But as McKeown befriends Dex, he begins to question the young man's innocence … and to wonder what really happened to his parents
