In this popular PBS mystery series, Derek Jacobi (Gladiator) stars as the sleuthing 12th century monk Cadfael, who sets off to work when two merchants at the local fair are found dead after villagers at the fair disobey the authorities. Once a sailor and adventurer, Cadfael has settled into a religious life at Shrewsbury Abbey, where he flourishes as an amateur detective while attempting to solve intriguing cases like this one.
