A factory worker named Filip (Jerzy Stuhr) buys an 8mm movie camera to record his new daughter's formative years. Before long, Filip's increasing expertise leads his boss to offer the erstwhile factory worker-cum-cameraman a new job: making films that will give outsiders a clearer picture of how things work at their factory. But soon, Filip's unvarnished, truthful films begin to rankle his boss (and even Filip's own wife) and threaten his job.
