Kung fu movie legend Sonny Chiba stars in director Kazuhiko Yamaguchi's obscure gem based on the life of the great Korean fighter Masutatsu Oyama, who founded Japan's kyokushin karate in the 1950s (and actually trained Chiba in martial arts). Completely unknown, Oyama signs on to compete in Japan's first Karate Championship following World War II and becomes the story of the tournament, challenging fighters from all around the world.
