This double feature from documentary filmmaker Ross McElwee heads south -- literally and metaphorically -- to tell the complicated story of love and family. In Charleen, the action centers around an eponymous goddess who acts as a muse to the motley crew of artists and musicians that surround her, eager for inspiration. Backyard presupposes that class underscores any and all interactions and dares to ask why this is so.
