Differing perspectives on earthquakes and love in the city of Chengdu are explored in this science-fiction romance. The first story occurs in 1976, during the Cultural Revolution, when a struggling teahouse owner falls in love with a waitress. Societal pressures complicate the affair, while in 2029, dancer Lin Miao seeks the boy who rescued her during an earthquake and the man who hurt her cousin. Will Lin Miao find both happiness and vengeance?
