Released from prison after serving time for murder, Sethumadhavan (Mohanlal) returns to find his mother ill and his younger sister (Usha) working to support the family. Sethu wants to help his relatives, but his victim's parents don't think his jail term was sufficient punishment for the death of their son. Meanwhile, the victim's sister falls for Sethu, unaware of his dark connections to her family.
