Colonel Effingham's Raid

Retired Army officer Col. Will Seaborn Effingham (Charles Coburn) has trouble ignoring his warhorse instincts when he learns that his Southern hometown's corrupt government plans to demolish a historical landmark: Confederate Monument Square. After rallying the townsfolk to his side, Effingham launches a well-coordinated attack against city hall and hits the local press where it counts in this quirky comedy also starring Joan Bennett.
