Carmel (Gabrielle Union) is a black woman who never stopped loving the white man who broke her heart. When Carmel passes away, her death acts as a catalyst for her estranged brother Helms (Billy Dee Williams) to examine and mend the emotional damage of his own broken relationships with his children and ex-wife. This Southern drama focuses on the effects of a biracial affair on the lives of family members and the healing legacy of love.
