Ian McKellen delivers a chilling performance as Adolf Hitler in this docudrama that depicts the days leading up to the outbreak of World War II in 1939. As Mussolini (Barrie Rutter) and Stalin (Alex Norton) plan their own world conquest, Hitler and confederate Hermann Göring (Peter Vaughan) plot to bring the Third Reich to power. Meanwhile, Britain's Neville Chamberlain (Michael Aldridge) prepares his country for the coming conflict.
