After her son is killed in a hit-and-run accident, writer Beverly Lowry (Diane Keaton) sinks into a morose obsession with death. Eager to learn more about the mind of a killer, Beverly befriends incarcerated Texas murderer Karla Faye Tucker (Jennifer Jason Leigh). Their unlikely friendship takes the pair on an unexpected journey of healing. Maury Chaykin co-stars as Beverly's frustrated husband in this gripping true-crime melodrama.
