Daddy Long Legs
(1919)|
In this delightful, comic melodrama, Jerusha "Judy" Abbott (Mary Pickford), abandoned at birth in an alley, grows up in a cruel orphanage with a prison-camp atmosphere. But her fortunes turn when an anonymous benefactor -- whom she christens "Daddy Long Legs" -- finances her college education. Complementing the feature film is director D.W. Griffith's 1910 short What the Daisy Said, about two country girls seduced by a gypsy.
