The unbridled scheming and backstabbing around the Southfork compound continue as the sixth season of the nighttime soap kicks off with Ewing Oil in turmoil and villainous J.R. (Larry Hagman) ousted as company president. When their father passes away, Bobby and J.R. find themselves locked in a battle over control of the family empire. Meanwhile, Pam and Bobby split up, and J.R. remarries Sue Ellen, only to later end up behind bars in Cuba.
