An instant hit after debuting in 1978 as the first nighttime soap opera, "Dallas" follows the tangled lives and intrigues of the oil-rich Ewing clan, headed by family patriarch Jock (Jim Davis) and the delightfully evil J.R. (Larry Hagman). Also living in the Ewings' well-appointed Southfork abode are lady of the house Miss Ellie (Barbara Bel Geddes); good son Bobby (Patrick Duffy); and J.R.'s beauty queen wife, Sue Ellen (Linda Gray).
