Hindu philosophy contains many tales of conflict between devas and danavas. In this story, Raja Sahab manifests benevolent lordly tendency toward Lakshmi, the young girl retained by him for amorous sport. But this all changes when Danav, a "beast of a man," enters the mango grove in one fatal 16th Spring.
