Kirstie Alley stars as Sally, a devoted mother to David (Michael Goorjian), and autistic child. For years, Sally's devoted herself to her son, alienating her husband (now her ex) and daughter. When a social worker realizes Sally has been navigating the system successfully to avoid institutionalizing David, a tug-of-war ensues, threatening Sally's relationship not only with her son but with her new boyfriend, John (Sam Waterston).
