Daybreak in Udi

Filmed in the Nigerian village of Udi, this docudrama follows a group of native townspeople and farmers who spontaneously take on their own community development. Helped by E. R. Chadwick, the district officer of Udi, the group manages to build new roads and schools, provide a water supply and create a maternity home. Nominated for a U.N. Award, Daybreak in Udi won a Best Documentary Oscar as well as a British Academy Award.
