Wilbur Johnson (James Best) is a carnival worker who is constantly ostracized and ridiculed because of the gruesome burns on his face, which were caused by his sadistic father many years in the past. By using a wooden mask given to him by an old witch, Johnson now seeks revenge on the people who have been so incredibly cruel to him. His anger resides in this mask, and it causes anyone who looks at it to commit violent suicide.
