Based on popular manga stories, the Death Note anime epic is retold here from a new perspective -- that of death god Ryuk, who sets the saga in motion by dropping into the human world the supernatural notebook that lets him end lives prematurely. When student Light Yagami finds the notebook, he decides to use its powers for the sake of good -- and before long, the region's criminals are dropping like flies.
