When the U.S. War Department recruited legendary director John Ford to create a propaganda film about Japan's Dec. 7, 1941, attack on Pearl Harbor and the aftermath, the result was this 1943 Academy Award winner for Best Documentary, Short Subjects. Subjected to massive cuts by the military, the fully restored and uncut version includes the famed prologue and epilogue sequences that were deemed detrimental to morale on the home front.
